Système Goupille, asymmetrical shelves

Shelving system and lamps, self-publishing, 2021

Not having studied industrial design, this project was an opportunity for me to confront the design, prototyping and production of industrial-produced furniture. Finding the various subcontractors and working with them to develop all the elements that make up the Système Goupille was a long and rewarding process. I was thus able to deepen my knowledge of the various processes of transformation and assembly of wood and metal. I also took this opportunity to study European standards for electrical appliances. This project was the one that forced me to fully immerse myself in design and gradually stop my old set design construction activity. Pin System is presented as a construction set: wooden elements, uprights and brackets that fit together and slide, pins to insert to lock the assemblies and finally shelves that clip onto the assembly. The lamp is fixed in the same way, with the pin. We combine the elements to create a bookcase, a shelf, a nightstand, or a column of shelves. One can imagine countless more or less dense compositions with integrated lighting to present and highlight objects. The lamp takes the same dimensions as the other elements in order to blend in with the whole. Its head swivels 360 ° which allows you to illuminate all directions. It is a portable lamp, it can be attached to any upright in the set, so it can be used as extra lighting, a bedside lamp but also become a desk lamp or a wall lamp.
